Technology and Education
Leveraging technological innovation to reduce gaps, promote equal opportunity in education, and prepare students in the social periphery for the age of artificial intelligence
About the Initiative
Yad Hanadiv has a long-standing tradition of advancing technological innovation to improve teaching and learning in Israel. Over the years, the Foundation has led pioneering efforts in areas such as remote learning, adaptive learning, and the design of innovative learning environments. It has also helped establish initiatives such as the Centre for Educational Technology (CET) and Educational Television.
Developments in artificial intelligence (AI) offer the education system a unique avenue to advance equal opportunity and ensure that gaps do not widen. Yad Hanadiv works to realize this potential while remaining mindful of potential pitfalls, based on the understanding that AI is more than a tool; it is a powerful means of fostering independent learning, personalized teaching, critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
We are currently engaged in a learning process focused on assessing the field, identifying root causes, and examining the underlying assumptions guiding our work. This effort is based on multi-sector partnerships with the hi-tech industry, educational institutions and academia. It comprises research and implementation of field-based pilots. Our aim is to develop sustainable models that will help the education system prepare for new forms of teaching and learning, and ensure that every child in Israel has the tools to succeed and thrive in the new technological era.
