Regenerative Agriculture

Bringing farmers and researchers together to drive innovation that improves soil health, ecosystems and climate resilience

About the Initiative

Israel’s farmers contend with soil degradation, extensive use of chemicals, rising production costs and growing exposure to climate change. Regenerative agriculture places the soil at the centre, treating it as a living system to be nurtured, rather than exploited. Academic research can help address these challenges by advancing precision agriculture that reduces the use of toxic substances and adapts crops to local climate conditions, alongside innovative practices that strengthen soil conservation.

Yad Hanadiv launched ‘From the Lab to the Field’ to promote a shift towards agriculture that supports soil restoration, reduces chemical use, enhances biodiversity and increases climate resilience. Led by the Environment Programme in collaboration with the Academic Excellence Programme, the initiative works with research institutions, government bodies and farmers.

Through this work, we support multidisciplinary agricultural research in data science, engineering, biology and research infrastructure. It establishes living labs – trial plots where science and farming meet, solutions are tested in real-world conditions, implementation models are developed, and professional training is delivered.

Our vision is to build a scientific and practical foundation that will enable local agriculture to regenerate soil, reduce long-term costs and improve public and environmental health.
