Avney Rosha – The National Institute for School Leadership
Developing a professional, state-wide cadre of head teachers, grounded in responsibility and bold leadership
About the Initiative
Established in 2007 as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and Yad Hanadiv, Avney Rosha – The National Institute for School Leadership – was created to promote educational leadership as a lever to improve Israel’s education system. It provides training and professional development for head teachers and supervisors, with a focus on pedagogical leadership rooted in a school’s vision, organisational culture, team development, data-informed management and engagement with the community.
To date, approximately 5,700 graduates have completed Avney Rosha’s training programmes. The Institute develops applied knowledge and practical training, and is advancing a framework for in-service head teacher training in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, local authorities and education networks. Since its establishment, the Institute has trained thousands of head teachers and is now a leading force in shaping professional educational leadership in Israel.
