Ada Yonath

Rothschild Prize in Life Sciences

Ada Yonath is a Professor at the Department of Structural Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She single-handedly pioneered x-ray crystallography study of the ribosome, the highly complex assembly functioning as the protein synthesis machinery of the living cell. She is the recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2009.
