Fellowships and Prizes

Yad Hanadiv maintains a number of fellowship and prize programmes to encourage excellence and acknowledge outstanding achievement. They include The Michael Bruno Memorial Awards, first granted in 1999 – conferred in mid-career to Israeli scholars or scientists of outstanding promise and potential; Rothschild Prizes, established in 1959, to individuals who have made original contributions in the Natural, Exact or Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Jewish Studies, Humanities and Engineering; Rothschild Fellowships, established in 1979, to enable Israeli post-doctoral scholars to study abroad; Hanadiv Fellowships, established in 1994 to advance opportunities for young scholars specializing in European and Western History; The Rothschild Prize for Education in Memory of Max Rowe, established in 1986 to recognize excellence among school teachers; Visiting Fellowships in Jewish Studies, established in 1985 together with the Beracha Foundation, enabling foreign scholars of Jewish Studies to carry out research in Israel; the Yizhar Hirschfeld Memorial Fellowships in Archaeology, a three-year fellowship for young archaeologists, first awarded in 2009.
